Spanish alabaster from the quarry of Aragon has long been considered an ideal substance for sculpture. Used in religious statuary and by prosperous families of Renaissance Spain, the material is richly veined and pleasantly porous. Due to the amount of light it lets through, it was often used for windows. We took note. In our Skylar family, we mount a slab of Spanish alabaster with thin metal clasps over an LED lamp. As the light pours through it, it creates a beautiful effect. Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of the medium, exact colors and patterns may vary slightly from the image shown.
